Normand Labrie, the associate dean of Research and a professor at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education of the University of Toronto has been appointed to a six-person expert panel on post-secondary French language issues by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. The Committee includes members from different backgrounds and with varied perspectives including: Gisèle Chrétien, Stacy Churchill, Chantal Côté, David Ip Yam, et Jean-Luc Bernard.
The committee will explore ways to enhance the Province’s capacity to provide French language education offerings at the post-secondary level in the GTA and in south-western Ontario in particular. These regions have growing Francophone populations, and the mandate will be to propose measures to expand post-secondary education options to better serve these communities. One of the outcomes of the panel will be a report with key recommendations to the Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities to be submitted by the end of the year
