Excellence takes patience, cheerfulness, dedication and humanity

DEPARTMENT: Sociology and Equity Studies
WHAT: Inaugural Recipient of 2008 Ontario Institute for Studies in Education Staff Excellence Award
FOR: Ouststanding contributions to her department and to the institute.

Kristine will be recognized at the Annual Awards Ceremonies on May 30, 2008 at 4:00 p.m., in the OISE Library, receiving along with the award the thanks of the entire community.

WHAT THEY SAID: "Kristine's commitment and affection for this institution is unmatched...in other institutions and contexts." -Tiffany King (STUDENT)

"Kristine is the epitome of what we should all strive for as individuals, approachable and open to different perspectives. Her character is exemplary, even in the midst of being inundated with work and deadlines she always finds time to stop and assist individuals..."-Donna Outerbridge (STUDENT)

"What you have here is true excellence - demonstrated daily in small but essential ways, ways that keep students afloat and the work of faculty and administators moving along, indispensible for the fulfillment of any institutional mission." -Sandra Acker (FACULTY)

"What is so remarkable about Kristine is how she shows her humanity. No matter what she is doing or whose problems she tried to address, she listens and empathizes, and always works to see the situation from the other's perspective. And, almost as if by a miracle, she finds a way to solve everyone's problem, even when most others would give up.
Kristine's job description does not mention anything about patience, cheerfulness and dedication, nor does it say she must be accommodating, even when...are being difficult. At the same time, these are the qualities that make her such an asset to our community...
She has made an immeasurable impact on several generations of graduate students in SESE. Kristine reminds us to be human, to be generous and respectful to each other. She is absolutely excellent." -Kari Dehli (FACULTY)
