OISE Alumni Association First to Support Graduate Students through GSEF Program
OISE’s Alumni Association has generously pledged $50,000 to support our graduate students. Donations made to graduate student support are matched dollar for dollar under the University of Toronto’s Graduate Student Endowment Fund (GSEF). The Alumni Association’s gift is one of the first donations, at OISE, to be matched under this program. With the matching funds the endowment now totals $100,000. The association has shown great leadership in creating this gift that will support graduate students at OISE for many years to come.

The funds were generated over a 20 year period through fundraising efforts by both the Faculty of Education and OISE Alumni Associations. The GSEF program was created by the University of Toronto using funds from the Ontario Government. Under this program donations of $50,000 are matched 100% creating a total endowment of $100,000.  The resulting award for the student is approximately $4,000 (depending on interest earned on invested funds). OISE then matches that amount by 50% for a total student award of $6,000.

To mark the 100th anniversary celebrations, OISE created the Centennial Legacy Scholarships for both teacher education and graduate students. With our support, a new generation of stduents will have the opportunity to continue the tradition of excellence in education for the next 100 years and beyond.
