Message from Dean Glen Jones
Dear Alumni and Friends,
I first came to OISE as an M.Ed. student in 1986, and that experience changed my life. I was introduced to the world of education as part of a community that continues to value innovation, diversity, critical perspectives, collaboration and research of the very highest standard. This community of scholarship and practice is justifiably proud of its position as one of the leading international centers for research and graduate studies in education, standing on the shoulders of one of the world’s great universities. Three decades after my first visit, it is an honour to be part of OISE’s new academic leadership team.
The OISE Alumni Association works very hard to ensure that our graduates continue to be part of our community. The art exhibition and program at the Spring Reunion in May provided a dynamic showcase for illuminating the creativity and talent of OISE alumni, faculty and students. We presented silver lapel pins recognizing those in attendance who had graduated more than 25-years ago, and it was wonderful to note the huge contributions that these alumni have made as educational leaders, teachers, policy-makers and scholars in locations around the world. Many of these alumni have also found ways to give back to the OISE community as leaders, volunteers, mentors, or donors. We are extremely proud of the work of our OISE Alumni Association, the Young Alumni Council, the OISE Mentorship Committee as well as the numerous Chapter ambassadors who are actively leading many initiatives to engage and connect with our alumni across Canada and abroad.
We invite you to stay connected with OISE through our Alumni and Friends website where you’ll find information on alumni benefits and services, continuing education and professional development opportunities, as well as the latest career postings. You can also find us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter (@OISEAlumFriends) and connect with us on LinkedIn. We look forward to hearing your stories about your time at OISE, and news about your career and accomplishments. Please keep in touch and drop by for a visit when you are in the neighbourhood.
