Message from Dean Julia O'Sullivan
As Dean of OISE, my richest experiences have come from meeting our alumni and they are amongst the best and the brightest in their fields. We have over 80,000 members worldwide, they are the greatest ambassadors for Canada, Ontario, and our education system. Having the opportunity to meet so many alumni has strengthened my commitment to create a dynamic relationship between the Institute and its alumni.
I had the privilege of welcoming over 80 alumni to OISE’s 2012 Spring Reunion Brunch on June 2, 2012. One of the highlights of the event was a talk entitled Full-day Learning / Kindergarten: The Impact on Staff, Parents and Children by fellow alumna Dr. Janette Pelletier. I was also delighted to meet alumni in Paris at a reception hosted by Dr. Helen Vari, a good friend of the Institute.
Last but not least, I am pleased to announce that our 12th floor community lounge has a new name: Nexus (Latin necto, nectere to bond, form a link – a place of connection, meeting and coming together). The name captured 58% of the 500 votes in our 'Name the Lounge' contest. The winning name was submitted by Kristina Djokic (M.Ed.'12) graduate in Adult Education and Community Development. In addition to the new name, the lounge will be dedicated to The Honourable Bill Davis at an event in December.
Please make sure to visit our News & Events website for additional information on OISE events, campaign updates and announcements.
Most importantly don’t forget to stay in touch!
I hope you and your family have a safe and happy holiday season.
Julia O’Sullivan, PhD
Professor and Dean
