OISE Teacher Education program is tops in sustainability ranking
OISE has been ranked Canada's top school for Teacher Education, according to Corporate Knights magazine. The sixth annual Knight Schools Survey, which includes Teacher Education programs for the first time, analyzes how Canadian universities fare in integrating sustainability into the school experience. AECP faculty to take on senior OISE leadership role
Lana Stermac has been appointed Acting Associate Dean, Research and Graduate Studies for one year starting July 1. Currently Principal Investigator on a Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) grant, Professor Stermac has an accomplished record of research and publication, extensive experience in senior administration in OISE, and service to the University. Her wisdom and expertise will greatly benefit the OISE community.
CTL faculty appointed to new senior administrative role in SGS
Elizabeth Smyth has been appointed as the new Vice-Dean, Programs in the School of Graduate Studies for a five-year term beginning July 1. Professor Smyth has held a range of important leadership positions within OISE and the University of Toronto, and will contribute enormous knowledge and experience in her new role at the School of Graduate Studies.
Award for modelling feminist scholarship and equity
Tara Goldstein has won the Canadian Association for the Study of Women and Education Carol Crealock Award for her contributions to mentoring young scholars, building feminist communities and dedication to making a difference in relation to social justice in education. The award honours a scholar who provides an exemplary model for equity and feminist scholarship and leadership in Canada. Professor Goldstein accepted the award on May 25 at the CSSE conference in Ottawa.
Research prize to boost math and science education in the U.S.
Indigo Esmonde has been awarded one of two coveted Research Fellowships by the Knowles Science Teaching Foundation, a national organization dedicated to advocating for improving the quality of high school science and mathematics teaching. Major report a blueprint for Ontario early-learning policy
The province is set to implement full-day learning for four- and five-year-olds beginning in 2010, based on key recommendations in Charles Pascal's major report, With Our Best Future in Mind: Implementing Early Learning in Ontario. Dr Pascal, a faculty member in Theory and Policy Studies is Special Advisor on Early Learning to the Premier.
