More than 300 attend debate on early learning in Ontario 
Tickets to the R.W.B. Jackson Lecture on November 18 at Hart House were sold out for weeks and the more than 300 people who attended enjoyed a lively panel discussion on early learning, hosted by The Honorable Kathleen Wynne, Minister of Education.  The event also featured OISE's Kimberly Bezaire, George Dei, Ben Levin and Jan Pelletier, and was introduced by Charles Pascal.  To view the webcast, click here.  

 

The future of History and Philosophy
Dean Jane Gaskell will chair a Town Hall meeting of the OISE community on Tuesday, November 17, from 3:30-5:30 pm in rooms 5-210 and 5-220. The focus of the Town Hall will be the future of History and Philosophy at OISE. Senior academic leaders and the OISE community of faculty, staff and students will have the opportunity to consult together, share information, raise issues and find a way forward for the humanities at OISE...More information

 

Don MacMillan appointed new OISE Registrar
Don MacMillan has been appointed to the position of Registrar of OISE, and will take up his new responsibilities beginning November 23. A former school teacher and administrator, Mr MacMillan comes to OISE from the University of Toronto at Scarborough, where he served as Registrar and Director of Enrolment Services since 1998. His considerable experience in senior university administrative roles and his strong connections to the field of education will be of great benefit to the OISE community.

 

Congratulations OISE graduates
Yunmei Xu graduated with a PhD in Developmental Psychology in Education on November 11, along with many other PhD, EdD, MA, MEd, MT, MAT, BEd, Diploma in Technological Education and Certificate in Leadership in Higher Education grads. The OISE Alumni Association hosted a reception for the graduates following convocation. The webcast of the Convocation ceremonies will soon be archived and available on the U of T Convocation website.
