All OISE community members are invited to the 2009 Dean's Graduate Student Research Conference, "Ideas Unleashed: Reimaging the Local and the Global, March 6 & 7. TDSB's new director understands challenges of urban education
Sociology and Equity Studies alum Dr. Chris Spence (MEd '93; EdD '96), former principal in Toronto and head of Hamilton's public school board since 2004, has been appointed to lead the Toronto District School Board for the next four years. New appointment: Council of College of Early Childhood Education
Jan Pelletier's widely recognized expertise in the field of early child development and education was acknowledged by the newly formed College of Early Childhood Education (CECE) with her appointment to its governing body. The CECE is a professional self-regulatory organization for early childhood educators focused on quality and standards of practice. The CECE Council makes decisions related to entry to practice requirements, standards of practice, codes of ethics and professional misconduct.

New directions for postsecondary education
The Higher Education Quality Council of Ontario has released a new research paper co-authored by Glen Jones and Michael Skolnik, Degrees of Opportunity: Broadening Student Access by Increasing Institutional Differentiation in Ontario Higher Education. Calling all artists! OISE Art Exhibition invites submissions
Community arts organizers are busy preparing for the annual exhibition, Creative Transformations: Living and Learning Through Art, which will be on display from April 6-10. Artists are invited to submit no more than three works, along with a brief artist's statement for each, for consideration by March 7.
