Staff Excellence Award renamed in honour of Dr Claire Alleyne
Faculty Council has approved the Dr Claire Alleyne Staff Excellence Award, renamed after recently retired OISE Registrar Dr Claire Alleyne, as a way for the OISE community to honour her 35-plus years of exemplary service and dedication to staff. Dr Alleyne created the Staff Excellence Award in 2005. The inaugural award was given out in 2008. Research project to educate journalists about education
Education reporters will be going back to school to advance their role in providing the public with factually correct information about the education issues they cover, thanks to an innovative project called Facts in Education, lead by Ben Levin and assisted by a panel of Canadian education experts who will test reporters' knowledge of education issues. Student researchers assume important roles in major projects
Robyn Read is a first-year M.A. student in Educational Administration and Comparative International Development Education. This year she is coordinating the Facts in Education project as well as working on Ben Levin's Research Supporting Practice in Education research team. Her research focus is the role of intermediaries in connecting research, policy and practice in international development education.

Adele Diamond giving the 2010 Robbie Case Memorial Lecture on Thursday, February 11, 2010. Her lecture, titled Resonating with Robbie Case and his legacy: Current approaches to optimizing ALL aspects of a child's development, begins at 5:30 p.m. in the OISE Auditorium at 252 Bloor St W. The William Waters Scholarships in Urban Education
Two $30,000 scholarships at the master's level are available for teachers with a record of excellence in teaching in the urban classroom. The application deadline is January 14, 2010.
