Lecture features leading developmental cognitive neuroscientist
The Institute of Child Study  presents world-leading researcher
Adele Diamond giving the 2010 Robbie Case Memorial Lecture on Thursday, February 11, 2010. Her lecture, titled Resonating with Robbie Case and his legacy: Current approaches to optimizing ALL aspects of a child's development, begins at 5:30 p.m. in the OISE Auditorium at 252 Bloor St W. Documentary wins prestigious award at international festival
Dorothy Goldin Rosenberg is the Executive Producer of the documentary film Toxic Trespass, an NFB co-production, which won the award for "Best Health and Safety Documentary" from the Ontario Workers Health and Safety Centre at the Canadian Labour International Film Festival  (CLIFF). Dorothy and director Barri Cohen were on stage to accept the award on November 29 at the Bloor Cinema at the close of the Festival. The film is a compelling look at children's health and the environment. The film and educational resource guide are in the OISE Library and Toronto Public Library.

University of Copenhagen honorary degree to Alister Cumming
Modern Language Centre head Alister Cumming received an honorary doctorate, Honoris Causa, from the University of Copenhagen. Queen Margrethe II of Denmark presided over the ceremony on November 12, which was webcast from the University of Copenhagen (Alister was presented with his degree starting at 1:16:52 hr in the ceremony)...More

Keith Stanovich Wins 2010 Grawemeyer Award in Education
OISE professor of human development and applied psychology, Keith Stanovich, is the winner of The 2010 University of Louisville  Grawemeyer Award in Education.  Professor Stanovich won the prize for his 2009 book, What Intelligence Tests Miss: The Psychology of Rational Thought. He was selected for the award from among 34 nominations worldwide... More 


The William Waters Scholarships in Urban Education 
Two $30,000 scholarships at the master's level are available for teachers with a record of excellence in teaching in the urban classroom.  The application deadline is January 14, 2010.  Candidates should apply to one of OISE's full-time master's programs.  For more information, visit the Centre for Urban Schooling website.
