Graduate Assistantship (GA)

Fall/Winter (Regular) and Summer

Graduate Assistantships are remuneration for graduate students who are engaged in research and/or field development oriented projects contributing to their academic and professional development.  The University is committed to principles of equity employment, and particularly encourages applications from women, aboriginal persons, racial minorities, and persons with disabilities.

  • GAs are unionized positions represented by CUPE 3907.

  • PhD students are eligible to hold a GA in the first 5 years of their program.
  • Masters students are eligible to hold a GA in the first 2 years of their program with the exception of the two 2-year MA programs.  Students in the 2-year Masters program are eligible to hold a GA in the first 3 years of their program.
