GA Online System Instructions
Step 9: Matching Phase 2: Departmental Priorities and Best Possible Matches
Deadline: August 30, 2012
The Phase 2 algorithm automatically takes into consideration departmental priorities and finds the next best possible matches. In this phase, departmental priority positions that were not matched up in Phase 1 are first matched with their best possible applicant. Then, all next best possible matches are made. Faculty members will be matched with their second or third best candidate who ranked the position high in their ranking.
During the time that the algorithm is running, faculty and students will not be able to see offers and will not be able to sign contracts. This will be noted on the top of your homepage.
Both faculty and students should check their GA homepages on August 30 to ascertain whether they were successfully matched in this phase.
To determine if you have been matched in this phase, click on the applicant icon under Actions. If you have been successfully matched in this phase, you will see “Offered” next to the applicant that was placed in their position.
