TA Online System Instructions
Step 6: Instructors Review/Interview/Rank Applicants
Deadline: May 16, 2013 (Continuing teaching assistants) / July 5, 2013 (New applicants)
There are two phases to this step:
-
May 13 - 16: Instructors will review and rank applications from continuing teaching assistants who showed interest in their job opportunity
-
June 19 - July 5: Instructors will review and rank applications from new applicants.
For the process in May, you may rank anytime after May 13.
For the process in June, you may view the applications for your positions starting June 15, but you may only start to rank the applications after June 19, 2013. It is important to note that students may still apply for TA positions until June 18, 2013. Therefore, you may decide to review applications throughout the week but rank them all together beginning on June 20, the day after the application deadline.
Please note that we will only include positions with ranked applicants in the matching process.
Instructions for ranking applicant files:
-
Login to the system
-
You will now see some additional icons that appear under the Actions column.
-
Click on the applicant icon (looks like two people). This will display the applicants who have applied to your position.
-
To view the student’s rationale and CV, click on their name.
-
Students will initially be ranked NR (not ranked). Once you have reviewed their rationale and resume, you may either rank them by using a number or “Remove” them from your list. By removing them from the list, you are indicating that you would not consider them for the position. It is important that you remove any applicants that you feel are not suitable for your position as it will then remove your job from the student’s list of jobs that they applied for and will enable them to apply to additional positions. We will retrieve the final ranking order in the afternoon on May 17 (for continuing teaching assistants) and July 8 (for new applicants).
-
If you have multiple positions for the same job, the system will automatically assign the top ranked applicants to the positions. For example, if you have two positions for one job, applicants that you ranked 1 and 2 will be offered the positions.
-
Please complete your ranking by the morning of May 16 (for continuing teaching assistants) and July 5 (for new applicants) to be included in the automatic matching process. Failure to complete the ranking may result in your top candidate being matched with another position.
