Office of Teaching Support at OISE

Dean's Memo announcing the opening of OTSO

Background:

As an outcome of the Report of the Teaching Task Force published in February 2008, the Dean’s Office is in the process of establishing the Office of Teaching Support at OISE. The mandate of this office will be to implement the recommendations of the Task Force in order to enhance current practices for helping faculty members with their teaching and assessment of learning at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Key responsibilities of the Office of Teaching Support at OISE will include:

  • Coordinating faculty development activities
  • Assisting in the implementation of the new OISE Guidelines for Assessing Teaching
  • Improving the coordination of nominations for teaching awards
  • Increasing teaching opportunities for graduate students

Currently the Dean’s Office is in the process of establishing the administrative infrastructure required to support these responsibilities.

2009 Teaching and Learning Symposium

This full-day, tri-campus event is intended to stimulate discussion and the sharing of experiences around teaching and learning, aiming to enhance communications and build internal networks. It is a cross-divisional forum which allows faculty and staff to explore new instructional methods, to celebrate our commitment to teaching and learning, and to hear from this year’s recipients of the President’s Teaching Award.
