International Alliance of Leading Education InstitutesSymposium on Research in EducationMobilizing Research and Knowledge in EducationOntario Institute for Studies in Education - June 15, 2011It is with great pleasure that I invite you, on behalf of the organizing committee, to attend a one day Symposium on Research in Education sponsored by the International Alliance of Leading Educational Institutions (IALEI), which will be held at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education of the University of Toronto (OISE) on June 15, 2011. The Alliance is the world’s leading education think-tank with 10 members, each from a different country, representing leading education institutes around the globe. OISE is the only Canadian institution involved and currently holds the Chair of IALEI. At each annual IALEI conference, an important and internationally relevant educational issue is addressed and researchers from each of the 10 institutions prepare and present papers. The themes to date have been Teacher Education (2008), Education for Sustainable Development (2009) and Multicultural Education (2010). The June 2011 conference theme is Mobilizing Research and Knowledge in Education and participants will explore the ways in which universities, as primary producers of education research, can further increase their contribution to policy and practice in education. In addition to the administrators and top academic researchers from the 10 member institutions, as well as researchers and education leaders from Ontario and Canada, senior officials from the World Bank and OECD will also join us. Canada Research Chair Professor Ben Levin from OISE is the academic coordinator of this international event. Professor Sandra Nutley, a world-leading expert in the area of mobilizing research and the use of evidence-based policy and practice, from the University of Edinburgh will be our guest expert. The day is designed to be highly interactive, with much discussion time. A tentative agenda is enclosed. Registration is now available. Registration is limited to 120 participants. Cost is $100, including lunch and materials. If you have any inquires about the event please contact Biljana Cuckovic or Regina Hui. Thank you in advance for your support and commitment to Research in Education. I am confident that your contribution and expertise will make our conference enriching and successful, and I look forward to seeing on June 15, 2011 at OISE.
