Watch: Vari Scholar Krystal Morgan sits down with Dr. Helen Vari to discuss the enormous impact that the scholarship has had on her education and student experience at OISE.

A civil engineer, philanthropist, and real estate developer, Dr. George Vari came to Canada in 1956 following the Hungarian Revolution. A firm believer that education should be the foundation of society, he dedicated much of his life to supporting various educational institutions and initiatives, and alongside his wife Helen, founded the George and Helen Vari Foundation.

Thanks to a generous donation from the Foundation, the Vari Scholarship has made it possible for students to achieve their dreams and honour the legacy of Dr. George Vari. Each year, the Vari Scholarship provides financial support for exceptional University of Toronto students who plan to pursue a career in primary or secondary teaching in Ontario.

Krystal Morgan, a recipient of the Vari Scholarship and mother of four boys, says that the scholarship has had a tremendous impact on both her academic and personal life.

Watch the video above to hear Krystal sit down with Dr. Helen Vari and discuss how the scholarship has made a difference in her educational experience and helped her to achieve her dream of becoming a teacher.
