Teacher Education


Master of Arts in Child Study and Education
This program is a combined teacher education and graduate degree program with two fields that emphasize child development and learning to develop educators who can apply this knowledge to their chosen field in education. Learn more.



Master of Teaching (MT)
This combined teacher education and graduate degree program focuses on the nature of learning and teaching across the curriculum, through coursework and practice teaching experiences. Learn more.

Master's Programs


Master of Education (MEd) degrees are designed for professionals working in education-related fields. Master of Arts (MA) degrees are designed to provide opportunities for study, research, and theoretical analysis.
 

Adult Education and Community Development (MEd, MA)
The MEd program serves individuals seeking to develop skills for adult education, community and organizational development roles in a wide range of settings in public, private and voluntary sectors. Clinical and Counselling Psychology (MA)
Prepares students to be scientist-practitioners in the area of counselling and clinical psychology. Learn more.


Clinical Psychology (MA) Develop research and theoretical knowledge in clinical and counselling psychology, skills in assessment and diagnosis of psychopathology, advanced intervention skills, knowledge of research and statistical analysis, and knowledge and training in professional issues. Curriculum Studies and Teacher Development (MEd, MA)

Developmental Psychology and Education (MEd, MA)

Educational Leadership and Policy (MEd, MA) 
The MEd program concentrates on elements of theory and research that are of direct assistance in understanding & resolving problems and issues confronting practicing administrators. Guidance and Counselling (MEd) 
Designed for experienced teachers who wish to specialize in guidance and counselling in schools. This program provides students with the basic preparation for certification as a Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). Learn more.


Higher Education (MEd, MA) 
The MEd program prepares research-informed practitioners for professional, administrative, and policy careers in the field of higher education. The MA program prepares scholar-practitioners for professional, administrative, and policy careers in the field of higher education, as well as those who would like to pursue a research career through further doctoral study. Learn more.


Language and Literacies Education (MEd, MA)
Concerned with the relationships of literacies in language and language in literacies across communities, societies, instructional environments, and informal learning settings. Learn more about the MEd program or the MA program


School and Clinical Child Psychology (MA)
This 2 year program provides theoretical, research and professional training for practice with children, adolescents and families in school, clinical, private practice and research settings and enables registration as a Psychological Associate.

Doctoral Programs


A Doctor of Education (EdD) is an advanced degree oriented towards applied and theoretical dimensions of professional educational practice. A Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) is an advanced degree designed to provide opportunities for advanced study, original research, and theoretical analysis.

Collaborative Specializations


The University of Toronto offers a range of collaborative specializations involving the cooperation of two or more graduate units (departments, centres, or institutes).

Interest in a collaborative specialization is indicated on the School of Graduate Studies (SGS) online application as part of your program selection.

Not all collaborative specializations are available in all degree programs within a specific program or field.
