Research Excellence

As one of the most research-intensive faculties of education in North America, OISE possesses an enormous pool of expertise. Our faculty members are committed to partnering with schools, communities, the non-profit sector and governments to develop and understand education and human development. Since 2004, OISE faculty have published more than 400 books and 2,000 refereed journal articles, and have won more than $21 million in research funding between 2011 and 2014.

The OISE Library — Canada’s Largest Education Library

The OISE Library is the largest and most comprehensive education library in Canada. The Library includes more than 2000 education journal titles, curriculum resources, textbooks, and films, as well as specialized collections in modern language education, women’s education, and the history of education in Ontario. The OISE Library is part of a network of 44 libraries at the University of Toronto - the 3rd largest academic library system in North America. As a new graduate student you are matched with a librarian who provides you with personalized research advice, whether you are writing your first research paper, or preparing to embark on dissertation research.

Education Commons — Information Technology for the 21st Century

Our students have access to state-of-the-art technology and services for use in research, teaching, learning and community outreach in education. The Education Commons offers fully-equipped computer labs for your everyday needs and advanced data analysis workstations to support your research. State-of-the-art collaborative environments are also available, with integrated audio, lighting, projection and workspace options, which allow you to explore new combinations of interactive technologies to meet your research goals.
