TA/TEPA Appointment for 2013/14 - Student's Intent to Continue
Below is a list of all the TA or TEPA appointments for which you are guaranteed a subsequent appointment in 2013/14. As per Article 16:05(5) of the CUPE 3902, Unit 1 Collective Agreement, please indicate your intent to continue or decline your TA/TEPA appointment in 2013/14.
You are required to indicate your intent to continue within 20 working days of your email notification. If you do not respond within 20 working days, the system will assume that you are declining your appointment for 2013/14.
For each of the assignments listed you have three of the following four choices:
- Continue in 2013/14 in your current assignment
- Continue in 2013/14 in a different assignment
- Decline to continue in 2013/14
- Other (with an opportunity to provide some comments)
If your supervisor has indicated that they are available to supervise you next year, you will see choices 1, 3, and 4.
If your supervisor has indicated that they will not be available to supervise you next year. In this case, you may still be offered the same position with a different supervisor if you choose “Different Assignment”.
If you declined your TA or TEPA in 2012/2013, you will see choices 2, 3, and 4.
Please note:
- You must be registered as a full-time student in September 2013 to take up the assignment.
- We will be using the information you provide for planning purposes only. Indicating that you will continue is not a guarantee that you will be offered the same assignment with the same supervisor.
- We will be sending you all messages pertaining to your TA/TEPA assignment to your email address that is indicated on ROSI, which is displayed below. Please ensure that your email address is accurate. If you need to update it, kindly do so on ROSI.
According to CUPE 3902, Unit 1 recent negotiations, registered graduate students, are now granted 4th and 5th subsequent appointments at half the hours of the initial appointment for 2012/13 and 2013/14 academic year. This also includes students in their 6th year or later of their PhD program. For example:
- If your initial appointment is 220 hours and your 4th and 5th subsequent appointment falls in 2013/14 academic year, you will be guaranteed an assignment for at least 110 hours; OR
- If your initial appointment is 110 hours and your 4th and 5th subsequent appointment falls in 2013/14 academic year, you will be guaranteed an assignment for at least 55 hours.
