My Teaching Assistantships (TA/TEPA)
Welcome to the new Teaching Assistantships website for students. We have developed this website to help current Teaching Assistants (TA/TEPA) keep track of their appointment and assignments. This website is part of a fully online system that allows us to automate many parts of the teaching assistantship appointment process.
The entire online process involves two systems:
- The TA Posting and TEPA Posting Systems - the systems used for continuing TA/TEPAs to find assignments and indicate your interest in the position. These systems are also used for the hiring of new teaching assistants.
- This TA/TEPA Tracking System - the system used for tracking assignment and appointment information. This is also where you will sign your contract and DDAH form.
With this shift from a paper-based process to an online system, we hope to improve instructor, student and administrator experience by providing greater transparency and access for everyone.
For the purposes of this system, an appointment is defined as your initial assignment plus your 5 subsequent assignments. An assignment is the job that you will perform as part of your appointment.
As a Teaching Assistant, you are represented by The Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 3902 Unit 1 (CUPE Local 3902).
Please note: If you are considering working as a Graduate Assistantship (GA), graduate students holding an OISE teaching assistantship (TA or TEPA) greater than or equal to 220 hours during the academic year (September-Augusst) are not eligible for a graduate assistantship (GA) as stated in Article 14:00 in the CUPE Local 3907 (GA) Collective Agreement.
How to use this website:
Bookmark this webpage if you are a current teaching assistant (TA/TEPA). This is the place you will find the details about your appointment (starting year, expiry year, guaranteed number of hours, etc.) You will also find details about your job and links to your DDAH form and contract.
In addition, you will be asked to visit this site to engage in various parts of the process. For example, once we have matched you with a job for the following year, you will be asked to confirm that you accept or decline the offer from this page. You will also be able to view and sign your DDAH form and contract when it is required.
We will continue to communicate with you via email to notify you about the step in the proces but this is the place where you will provide input and where your information will always be available. Because you must login to this page using your UTORid, only your personal information will be displayed to you.
Your Information:
At the bottom of this page, you will find your personal information.
Inside the My Info box, your name, email and student number are displayed. The email address that is displayed is the email address that we have on file and will use to contact you with any email correspondence.
Under My Info, a list of your appointments will appear. Click on your name to display a list of your assignments that belong to that appointment. If you have multiple appointments, you will see your name listed multiple times. Click on the job title to display the details of that assignment, including links to your DDAH form and contract.
Please note: Your assignment and appointment status listed below is information for 2012/2013. On June 3, the system will display your 2013/2014 information.
If there are any discrepancies in the data, please contact Ai-Ri Brown at airibrown@oise.utoronto.ca.
Current Step in the Process:
The Teaching Assistantship Appointment Process involves many steps. The Academic Director, Teacher Education and the Associate Dean, Programs office are in the process of making decisions about continuing TA and TEPA positions for 2013/2014. As part of this process, some continuing teaching assistants will need to go onto the TA and TEPA Posting systems to find a job that interests them.
Next Step in the Process:
Continuing teaching assistants who need to go onto the TA and TEPA Posting systems will be notified by email during the week of April 29 and will be given instructions to view current job opportunities. At that time, you will be asked to indicate which jobs interest you. You may indicate multiple positions that interest you. Instructors will review your information and will rank all those that are interested in their positions. At the end of this step, you will be assigned a subsequent assignment for 2013/14. Although our goal is to find the best possible match for you, we cannot guarantee that you will be matched with a particular job.
All continuing teaching assistants will be able to view their match below on June 3.
