Ontario Graduate Scholarships (OGS)

Ontario Graduate Scholarships are available to students with a high level of academic achievement. International students are eligible for this scholarship.

Beginning with the 2013-14 competition, the University of Toronto will be responsible for the awarding of the scholarships held at U of T.  Students must submit an OGS application to each institution for which they are seeking admission. OGS awards are no longer transferrable from one university to another.

Value of OGS: $15,000 - for 3 consecutive terms

  • OGS awards are not automatically renewed. You must submit a new application each year (12-month period).

Eligibility

  1. Masters students are eligible for an OGS in years 1 and 2 of their program.
  2. Doctoral students are eligible in any year of their program but may hold a maximum of four (4) OGS awards at the doctoral level
  3. Students are eligible for a lifetime maximum of six (6) years of government-funded awards and cannot hold an OGS and another government-funded award currently.
  4. There is no longer a cap on the maximum number of hours a student may work while holding an OGS.  However, the student’s main occupation should be as a student so they cannot be employed full-time.

Where do I find an application?

Application forms as well as detailed information on things such as eligibility and terms and conditions of the award can be obtained from the SGS website.

Please read all of the information carefully (especially the “Instructions for Online Application” provided) before applying for the award.  The information clearly indicates what has to be included in your application as well as how it is to be included.  Once your application has been submitted it cannot be changed.

The deadline date for applications for OISE students is December 10, 2012.
