Initiatives & Regions
OISE has acquired over the past decades an extraordinary reputation internationally. OISE Faculty are active members of scholarly networks around the world which infuse and enrich their research, teaching and outreach activities.
Many students come to OISE with a wealth of international experience and expertise. They also come to obtain greater international exposure and a more universal understanding of educational issues. Governments and educational administrators, scholars and students from around the world draw on our expertise and engage in various kinds of collaboration.
The OISE Dean's Office is promoting the international profile of the institution through some targeted institutional initiatives, such as hosting international delegations, assisting units who wish to develop some collaborations with international partners (Letters of Intention, Memoranda of Understanding), and prospecting for future international collaborations, with, for example, institutional visits to China (2007, 2010), and India (2008). Our approach to international initiatives is guided by the principles presented in the International Strategy but also directed by a two-fold approach:
- To realize the potential of various individual efforts and activities that begin to cluster around a theme or region, and where possible support such activities;
- To look to the global education context and realize where OISE leadership and guidance is required in order to foster international relationships around the world.
