CONSECUTIVE BACHELOR OF EDUCATION APPLICATION PROCESS

Application materials become available beginning in mid-September of the year prior to registration. (See Application Schedule.) 

Applicants to the Bachelor of Education degree program (Primary/Junior, Junior/Intermediate, Intermediate/Senior Divisions) must submit the following:
 

1.  A completed TEAS online application, submitted to Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC) with the required application and service fees attached.

  • The fee which you pay to OUAC must include the $100 non-refundable OISE service fee.
  • This is a common application form used by all one-year initial teacher education programs in Ontario (ie, this is the basic starting point to apply to any such program in Ontario).
     

2.  Official transcripts from all universities attended.
 

3.   A completed OISE Applicant Profile. During the application period, the Applicant Profile will be available via the OISE website. It is submitted online.

 

4.   Evidence of an acceptable level of proficiency in oral and written English as described in the OISE Teacher Education English Language Proficiency Policy.

 

  • In addition to the above documents, applicants who select French and/or an International Language (German, Italian or Spanish) as teaching subjects may also need  to submit  a proficiency test in the target language BEFORE the application deadline. TECHNOLOGICAL EDUCATION APPLICATION PROCESS

Application materials become available beginning in mid-September of the year prior to registration. (See Application Schedule.) 

Applicants to the Technological Education Program (Fall/Winter or Apprenticeship Program) must submit the following:

1.  A completed TEAS online application, submitted to Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC) with the required application and service fees attached.

• The fee which you pay to OUAC must include the $100 non-refundable OISE service fee.
• This is a common application form used by all one-year initial teacher education programs in Ontario (ie, this is the basic starting point to apply to any such program in Ontario).
 

2.  A completed Technological Education Profile
 

3.  Official transcripts from secondary school and proof of grade 12 graduation.
NOTE: Even if you have a university degree or college diploma, you are required to submit a transcript showing your high school courses and proof of grade 12 graduation. 
 

4.  Official transcripts from a College of Applied Arts and Technology and/or Universities where applicable. If a transcript does not clearly indicate the type of diploma/degree received and the date received, a photocopy of the actual diploma must be submitted.
 

5.  Documentation of formal education/skills acquisition prior to the beginning of skilled employment and proof of competence in your BBT teaching subject.

 

6.  Skilled wage-earning experience documented in a manner acceptable to OISE.

 

7.   Evidence of an acceptable level of proficiency in oral and written English as described in the OISE Teacher Education English Language Proficiency Policy.

 

  • Except for the OUAC application form, all other documents must be submitted to:

IMPORTANT NOTES

Application Deadline

The deadline for application and submission of all required documentation is the end of November (or the beginning of December). Applicants are notified of admission decisions in April. Please consult the Application Schedule for specific dates.
 

 

Application Handbooks

The OISE Consecutive Bachelor of Education Application Handbook and the Technological Education Application Handbook are available as PDF files that you can download to your own computer. They are important information aids to help you prepare your application.  (See Application Forms to access these Application Handbooks.) 

  • The OUAC also provides an application handbook to support the basic TEAS online application.  An excerpt of the University of Toronto section of this handbook is posted to our "Application Forms" page (see sub-menu on left side of page).  The full version of this handbook is posted on the OUAC's Teacher Education Application Service (TEAS) website.


Submitting Documents

All supporting documents must be sent directly to the OISE Registrar's Office, Initial Teacher Education Admissions Unit (see address below). Detailed information concerning the application process is included in the information documents that accompany the application forms. Documents supporting applications are not carried forward from year to year. New documents must be submitted each year. FAXED copies of Profiles and transcripts are not acceptable.

NOTE: All credentials submitted in support of an application become and remain the property of the University and are subject to the Policy on Access to Official Student Academic Records.

Application Fees

A supplementary $100 non-refundable Faculty Service Fee, in addition to the OUAC base* application fee ($135 if you apply on-line), is required of all applicants. The total fee must be remitted by credit card, cheque or money order, payable to the Ontario Universities Application Centre. The application will not be processed without it. Please refer to the Fee Payment Schedule of the OUAC/TEAS application booklet or the "Fees and Payment of Fees" section of the OUAC/TEAS website.

* The basic OUAC fee allows you to select up to three initial teacher education programs at Ontario universities. If you wish to apply to more than three programs an additional fee of $44 per extra choice will be required.
 


Program Selection

Applicant may select only one of T10, T20, or T30, plus T80 or T85 at OISE. If additional choices are listed, only the first of those listed for OISE will be considered.

NOTE: After the application deadline, candidates will not be permitted to change division or teaching subjects.

Applicants to the Technological Education program may select either the regular fall/winter Technological Education program (T80) or the Technological Education (Apprenticeship Program) (T85), but not both.
 

B.Ed. Teaching Subjects and Prerequisites

If you are using the OUAC/TEAS website to complete the TEAS application via the internet you will be prompted top select eligible teaching subjects appropriate to the division which you select. Important information about teaching subject prerequisites and acceptable combinations of teaching subjects is included in the University of Toronto section of the TEAS application booklet. A file containing an extract of this information is included with our Application Document Files for your convenience.
