Documents Pending
Once you have completed the online application process (including payment), the University of Toronto School of Graduate Studies online application system shows the current status of your application as Documents Pending.
You are responsible for monitoring the status of your application. It is especially critical to regularly check the status of supporting documents (e.g. received or not received) and take appropriate action when necessary.
When a document has been received the online application system is updated as soon as possible. Supporting documents you upload directly (e.g. transcript(s), résumé, statement of intent) show “Received” as soon as the upload process is successfully completed. A letter of reference shows “Received” as soon as your referee has successfully completed the submission process.
As for paper documents (e.g. official transcripts), the Registrar's Office receives an extremely high volume of such documents – literally thousands. Staff in the Graduate Admissions Unit manage incoming documents as quickly and efficiently as possible, but this work takes time. All documents are date-stamped according to arrival in our office; applicants are in no way penalized because of the required processing time.
A Documents Pending status means your application is incomplete (for example an official transcript or letter of reference is missing). However, if an academic assessment can be completed an incomplete application will be considered by a Department Admissions Committee.
Under Review
When all required supporting documents have been received the University of Toronto School of Graduate Studies online application system shows the current status of your application as Under Review. Again, staff in the Graduate Admissions Unit update records as quickly and efficiently as possible. This work takes time and your patience is appreciated. An Under Review status confirms your application will be considered by a Department Admissions Committee.
Decision Made
After official written notification of results have been mailed to you the status of your application on the University of Toronto School of Graduate Studies online application system is changed to Decision Made. This work also takes time – typically well after the official result letter (such as an Offer of Admission or Notification of Refusal) reaches you.
