OISE is known as an international leader in the research, teaching and study of issues that matter in education. We strive to be an effective, interactive learning community which, through research, scholarship, and excellent instruction, provides the theoretical knowledge base for education as a domain of advanced study and professional practice.

OISE is a centre of excellence for graduate studies, research, field development, initial and continuing teacher education in Ontario. It also is a central and integral part of the University of Toronto with collaborative programs, joint appointments, and linkages to a variety of professional faculties and departments.

Within OISE’s five academic departments, we offer twelve graduate studies programs (plus specialized fields and collaborative programs) leading to master’s and doctoral degrees.
