Communications Policy

According to the U of T policy, all students, including SESE students, MUST maintain a valid postal and university-issued electronic address.  Students are expected to monitor and retrieve their mail on a frequent and consistent basis via their U of T E-mail account. More...

U of T E-mail Account

IMPORTANT - SESE, OISE and the U of T will only send correspondence to students' U of T e-mail account.  As such the University provides a free e-mail service, called UTORmail, for use by its community of students, faculty and staff. It is the responsibility of the student to secure their T-Card, which is a photo ID smartcard, to activate their U of T e-mail account.

T-Card

The U of T T-Card is a student ID card at the University.  It is used for borrowing library materials and equipment, accessing online databases and e-journals, photocopying and printing, accessing athletic facilities such as Hart House, etc. The T-card can be obtained from the T-Card Office located in the south lobby, Room 2054, 2nd Floor of the Robarts Research Library. For additional information and current hours of service, visit the T-Card website at http://www.library.utoronto.ca/services/card/index.html.

Setting up a U of T E-mail Account

New Students - at the time of securing your TCard from Information Commons at the Robarts Library will be given a UTORid, a Secret Activation Key (SAK) and a password which will be required to set up your e-mail account.

ROSI

ROSI (Repository of Student Information) is the automated student record system that keeps track of student information from the time of admission to the time of graduation from the U of T.  Students are required to register for courses; add or drop courses, update PIN numbers, mailing address and other personal information; check program fees and download invoices; access grades and academic status; order transcripts; cast their vote in some student elections and more.   Check ROSI for more information.

Wireless Access

The University of Toronto campus wireless network (UTORcwn) allows laptop computers to connect to the campus network using wireless/radio frequency technology.

Setting Wireless Access on your Computer

Once you set up your UTORid and Password, click on using the wireless network and follow the steps to set up your wireless access.  Read the Network Security Policy for more details.
