Most recently, on behalf of a team of Canadian astronomer/educators, John has received a grant of $72,000 over three years from NSERC PromoScience, for "Inspiring Youth Through Astronomy", to coordinate hundreds of volunteers who will bring astronomy to young people across Canada in engaging ways, in both formal and informal settings. In a related project, he is co-leading a project to develop resources to support the teaching of astronomy and space in the Ontario revised secondary school curriculum. Partners include the Science Teachers Association of Ontario, NRC Canada, and the Ontario Ministry of Education.
