Wanja Gitari

Dr. Gitari teaches in both the graduate program and the Transitional Year Programme. Her graduate level course is titled “Ways of Knowing in Science and Technology: Cross Cultural Issues in Science and Technology Education.” Her work in the Transitional Year Programme consists of teaching a course, Reasoning in the Sciences; conducting science course seminars; academic advising and mentoring.
Some of Professor Gitari's funded researches have investigated the relationship between certain elements of everyday knowledge of natural phenomena and school science, by looking into the possibilities of integrating everyday knowledge into school science and engendering scientific creativity in everyday life.
Dr. Gitari is a recipient of the Young Canadian Researchers Award of the International Research Development Center (IDRC), Ottawa, 1997.
