Field Experience Support

Teacher candidates who seek the support of Student Services during the first few weeks of their participation in the Initial Teacher Education Program have a very high rate of success. Teacher Candidates who anticipate that they may require accommodation during practicum are encouraged to make an appointment with an advisor in Student Services as soon as possible by calling 416-978-2277 or by visiting the reception desk on the 8th floor.

The following are examples of accommodations that might be provided for qualifying teacher candidates: 

• Provisions for absence during practicum to facilitate medical appointments or other forms of treatment
• The opportunity for short breaks throughout the day
• Access to technological alternatives to writing on the blackboard
• Other forms of accommodation are also provided on an individualized basis.
