Procedure for Payment of Honoraria
At the end of the school year, SUPO will determine, on the basis of its records, the sum due to each Principal/Practice Teaching Liaison, Office Administrator, and Associate Teacher. Payment will be made for Orientation days, but not for STEP days, Secondary Program in-school days, statutory holidays, days when a Teacher Candidate is absent, or the Internship Program.
OISE mails honorarium payments in June of each year according to the process determined by each Board of Education.
York Catholic District School Board: Payment made directly to the School Board along with statements indicating how much is owed to each Associate Teacher.
Toronto District School Board: Payment made directly to the School Board along with statements indicating how much is owed to each Associate Teacher.
Halton District School Board: Payment made directly to Associate Teachers. This requires each Associate Teacher provide SUPO with his/her S.I.N. number, Date of Birth and Tax Address.
All other School Boards: Payment is sent directly to the School Principal along with a statement of amounts to be distributed to each Associate Teacher. The school is asked to verify the cheque to the honoraria statement accompanying the cheque, and if the school is in agreement to the honoraria statement, the school should deposit the cheque. The school, in turn, should issue cheques to the appropriate staff members.
If there is any discrepancy in the statement or cheque amount, the school should contact the Finance & Office Administrator at 416-978-2202 before cashing.
note: OISE does not issue a T4 for Honoraria payment. It is the responsibility of the individual to declare the honoraria amount in the year in which the income is received.
