Join us for weekly drop-in sessions to help you reconnect with your body, mind, and emotions. Learn techniques, including mindfulness and yoga, for increasing our capacity to be reflective, strengthen our resilience, and improve our relationships with others.

Restorative Reset

FOR ALL MEMBERS OF THE OISE COMMUNITY

Offered every Tuesdays, 12:30 pm - 1:00 pm from September 20 - April 4 (no session September 27, October 25, December 20, January 10, Feb 7, or March 14 (March Break)) | REGISTER HERE

You understand that yoga / meditation / iRest® are not substitutes for medical attention, examination, diagnosis, or treatment, and you should consult a physician prior to beginning any activity program. During the session, you know it is important to listen to and respect your body, to gently come out of poses / shapes if you feel strain / pain, and to take rest whenever you need to. You recognize that it is your responsibility to notify the teacher of any serious illness / injury before every session. You represent and warrant that you have no psychological, medical, or emotional conditions which would prevent you from safe participation in these sessions, classes, workshops, or training.

You accept that neither the teacher, nor the hosting facility, is liable for any injury, or damages, to person or property, resulting from participating in this session. You have read and recognize that this release and waiver of liability is a legal contract and fully understand its contents. You agree to the terms and conditions above. MINDFULNESS PRACTICE  | Fall 2022 Schedule

September 26, 2022 - December 8, 2022

Mindful Mondays

Mondays: 8:00-8:50am | Rebecca Osterlee Do you struggle with feeling overwhelmed at the start of the week? Do you struggle with knowing where to begin? Do you desire more accountability? Start your week with us on Monday mornings! These sessions will help you plan out the week ahead of you with a guided, structured, and mindful approach. Each session will include a grounding morning meditation followed by various journaling prompts aimed to help students prioritize tasks & form an action plan. This session can be done on your morning commute or over your morning coffee—cameras may be turned on or off at any time. You will need a piece of paper and a writing utensil.

Mindful Walking

** NOW Mondays (not Thursdays) 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm | Emily Springgay These sessions will help you practice becoming aware of your surroundings and how your body and mind feel while moving. Drop-in for a guided outdoor mindfulness walk around the university. This experience will help you awaken the senses, connect with yourself and nature, meet others, visit new parts of campus, and de-stress. This mindful walk will be set at a pace that is easy to follow, accessible and inclusive for all bodies and abilities. This event takes place rain or shine or snow so come prepared for the weather.

Sessions are free and do not require registration. No previous experience or skill level required. Meet in the OISE lobby at 4:30pm for introductions. The walk leaves promptly at 4:40pm

Cultivating a Gratitude Practice

Tuesdays: 8:00-8:50amRebecca Osterlee These sessions introduce gratitude and meditation to OISE students as a tool to ground themselves for the day ahead. Practicing mindful gratitude can help individuals feel more positive emotions, increase their resilience, and strengthen their mental flexibility over time. Each session will include a grounding morning meditation followed by various gratitude journaling prompts, and a personal reflection/journaling period to conclude. Attendees will be welcome to share their experience in a brief discussion if they desire. This session can be done on your morning commute or over your morning coffee–cameras may be turned on or off at any time. You can use a scrap sheet of paper and any writing utensils.

Visual Arts-Based Mindfulness

Fridays 12:10pm-1:00pm | Emily Springgay These sessions introduce art-making as a tool to connect to the present moment. The arts can help you develop awareness of your inner experiences, access strengths and resources, and cultivate self-compassion and compassion towards others. Each session will include a visual arts-based exercise and personal reflection/journaling, followed by a brief discussion. Cameras may be turned on or off at any time. You can use any art materials available to you (e.g., any kind of paper/cardboard/canvas and any mark-making materials such as pencils, pens, markers, highlighters, crayons, paint, etc).
