Child frustrated learning

The COVID Slide: The Challenges of Learning Online with Dr. Todd Cunningham

January 26, 2022
7:00PM - 8:00PM EST (Toronto Time)

From the beginning of the emergency response of online learning to the ongoing transition to in-person and online learning, students have experienced significant disruptions due to the pandemic.
Research before the pandemic on learning loss due to school disruption as well as current research due to the pandemic have shown that students do not make the same academic gains. Not all students are impacted equally. Students who have acess to consistent online learning, have the envrionment that supports their education and have the ability to learn independently are more likely to make typical gains. However, students who do not have reliable access, supportive environments or have learning difficulties are at a higher risk of academic loss during these times.
This session will provide the audience with:
  • Information on how to identify when students are experiencing disruptive learning
  • Solutions on how educators can use post-pandemic to work with students who have experienced learning loss and developmental health issues.
  • International research showing the impact that online learning has had on the academic development and student mental health
  • How teachers/parents can mitigate issues for students
