Hanna Melnick

Hanna Melnick

Research Analyst and Policy Advisor at the Learning Policy Institute

Hanna Melnick is a Research Analyst and Policy Advisor at the Learning Policy Institute, where she co-leads the Early Childhood Learning team. She conducts and synthesizes high-quality research related to early childhood education policy and communicates this research with policymakers to inform policy at the federal, state, and local levels. She has expertise in early childhood education systems—from educator preparation to quality improvement to administration and finance. Her recent publications include a study of scaling early educator preparation, a landscape analysis of California’s ECE system, and case studies of high-quality preschool expansion in four states. Melnick is also a member of the Deeper Learning team, with a focus on school climate, social-emotional learning, and assessment and accountability systems. Previously, she taught elementary school in the Bay Area. Melnick holds an M.P.P. from the Goldman School of Public Policy at UC Berkeley and a B.A. from Harvard University.
