There are no official University of Toronto policies for visiting ‘scholars’ per se, there are policies that cover faculty from other universities and research institutes who hold continuing appointments in their home institutions who may be appointed to a unit as a Visiting Professor. International visiting professors who are expected to have the necessary visas, evidence of employment in home country, and health insurance to cover their health expenses while they are visiting the University of Toronto.

Once a post-doctoral fellow has secured funding of more than $31,500 (as of Jan 1, 2016) plus the cost of health insurance, and has a faculty sponsor, the department or CIDEC will write a letter confirming the dates of appointment and access to labs and equipment.
