History of CLSEW

n

Established at the University of Toronto in late 2014, CLSEW brings together two well-established research centres at Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) in the University of Toronto, the Social Economy Centre and the Centre for the Study of Education & Work. The result is a new research centre, called the Centre for Learning, Social Economy & Work (CLSEW).

The Centre for Learning, Social Economy and Work — CLSEW — regularly brings together researchers and practitioners to share their latest insights and lessons learned.

  • Speakers Series is free monthly series that runs from the fall to the spring of each academic year.  No registration is necessary and the talks are webcast live simultaneously as it is presented at our OISE location.

  • Workshops offer an interesting blend of research insight and practical tips.  They provide a low-cost alternative to many of the commercial training sessions.

  • The Nonprofit HR Network is specifically designed for nonprofit organizations that are interested in sharing their HR issues and learning from each other.  The annual membership includes four meetings a year between Fall and Spring of the academic year.

  • Occasional Seminars are offered to bring the latest research to the CLSEW community.

Official launch of CLSEW

l

Thanks to everyone who made our launch on Sept 30, 2015 a huge success.  At OISE's Peace Lounge, Jim Stanford delivered a thought provoking talk that did not disappoint.  A copy of his presentation is available here.  The food from FoodShare was enjoyed by all.  We could not have asked for a better way to kickstart CLSEW.  Here are a few pictures from the evening.
