The Impact of Student Debt

How do tuition fees and student debt impact your learning?  A survey of Ontario university students indicates that tuition and debt may impact access, achievement, mental health and career prospects. 

Come hear the preliminary results of the survey and share your experiences in the discussion that follows. 




Chris GloverChris Glover is a PhD Candidate at OISE as well as a parent, a research consultant, and Adjunct Professor at York University and have a son and daughter who have both recently graduated from TDSB schools.  As well as teaching at York, he has taught at the University of Toronto, Centennial College, and East York Collegiate. As a research consultant, his clients have included Public Health Departments, the United Way of Greater Toronto, Parent Action on Drugs, and former Trustees Bolton and Rodrigues of the Toronto District School Board. His research projects have included surveys of community education needs and evaluations of student health programs.  As TDSB Trustee, he has worked to make the budget process at the Board more transparent. To this end, he championed the TDSB’s first Participatory Budget in March of 2012.  More information on Chris is available on his website.


alastair woodsAlastair Woods is the Government and Media Relations Coordinator for the Canadian Federation of Students - Ontario.  He is responsible for crafting, implementing and overseeing the Federation’s government relations strategy.  He is also currently pursuing his master's degree in design at the OCAD Uuniversity.  As a student advocate, Alastair has held positions as the chairperson for the Canadian Federation of Students - Ontario and the Vice President, Campaigns & Advocacy at York Federation of Students.
