Edith van der Boom, BA, MEd, PhD completed her doctoral studies at the University of Toronto in Developmental Psychology and Education. Her focus of research was on examining the differences in reading comprehension skill profiles among struggling adolescent readers based on their status of having a Learning Disability (LD) or and/or being an English Language Learner. It was her goal to contribute to the understanding of struggling readers to in turn inform school and classroom practices. Dr. van der Booms currently works as the Director of Learning at John Knox Christian School where she supports the implementation of differentiated instruction, is responsible for curriculum choices, and provides professional development and support on an on-going basis through all day sessions, professional learning communities, and instructional coaching.
