First, we would like to thank everyone for their interest and support for the 20th OISE Graduate Student Research Conference.
In light of the latest developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, U of T’s directives to cancel in-person classes, and our responsibility toward the OISE and larger community, we have come to the collective decision to no longer hold the Graduate Student Research Conference on April 04-05, 2020. After careful deliberation and consultation with the OISE Dean’s office, we are considering the conference to be postponed to a later date in the coming Fall semester.
We would like to thank you all for sharing your wonderful ideas and work. We received proposal submissions for more than 100 paper presentations, 12 posters, and 11 workshops. We had organized for a wonderful lineup of speakers, keynotes, and panelists from diverse backgrounds and were looking forward to sharing with you all, some critical conversations and discussions on the “Futures of Education”.
We would also like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the amazing team of volunteers who reviewed the proposals and were working on developing the conference program, and the committee coordinators for all the time and labour they have put into the conference thus far. We look forward to resuming this work at a more suitable time.
Once again, we truly appreciate the support from the OISE community and encourage you all to continue these critical and important conversations on imagining more just, sustainable, and equitable ‘futures’.
We hope to be able to reconnect with you all over the course of the next few months. In the meantime, please feel free to get in touch with any questions or inquiries. On a more personal note, please take care of yourselves and those around you during these uncertain times, and remember the collective responsibility we share in this situation.
With best wishes for a happier and healthier spring,
Shirin Haghgou, Leping Mou & Norin Taj
