Information for Faculty

The GSRC Invites Faculty and Departmental Support!

Session Chairs

Research Talks: Students will present in sessions arranged by topic and/or research areas in classic 15-minute conference style presentations. Each session chair will be responsible for introducing each presenter, open and close the session, keep time and help facilitate questions/discussions with the audience.

Practitioner Talks: Students will present in sessions arranged by topic and/or research areas in 15-minute presentations to discuss and share applied research projects or initiatives related to their profession. Talks could focus on implementation/application of policies, curricula, programs, etc. Each session chair will be responsible for introducing each presenter, open and close the session, keep time and help facilitate questions/discussions with the audience.

Facilitators

Special Interest Group Discussions: A faculty-led session that focuses on networking and community building to advance knowledge mobilization in a particular area of research. The goal is to invite students from outside the faculty member’s program, department and/or research group who typically would not have access to dialogue and to learn more about the important research OISE faculty are doing.

Workshop/Demonstration: 45-minute workshop for faculty and graduate students who wish to lead a group discussion or exploration on a particular subject, project, or skill. Workshops and Demonstrates can involve technology, software/application, among other hands-on experiences.

Academic Judges

Rapid Talks Competition: Inspired by 3-Minute Thesis and Pecha Kucha storytelling, students this year can compete in a rapid talk presentation to share their research in a fast paced and visual presentation to a broad audience. Faculty are needed to form a judging panel and will determine first, second and third prize.

Encourage Your Students To Attend

Please encourage students to attend the conference as presenters or as a participant! The GSRC Team is also happy to visit classes in early January to promote to faculty who are teaching next term! Questions can be directed to oise.gsrc@utoronto.ca.
