Fall 2022 & Winter 2023 Important Dates

ACORN Course enrolment is not available (scheduled maintenance).

Enrolment will reopen at 12:00 AM on July 28.

Students can add a course to the enrolment cart, but cannot take any other action: Students cannot Enrol, Drop, Modify, or Join a waiting list until 2022-July-28 at 12:00 AM.

The first cycle of course enrolment is July 13th to July 26th.  There is no enrolment on July 27th.  On July 28th, enrolment will reopen and  unused spaces are opened to other student categories as noted in course comments on the Course Schedule.

Civic Holiday (University closed)

Last day to be enrolled from a wait list into a course that begins in September. Wait lists are cancelled at the end of this date. Students have until end of day Sept 6 to select alternate course(s) and enrol via ACORN.

New students ensure that all conditions of admission are satisfied. If conditions are not satisfied by the final deadline of September 30, consult with the Registrar's Office promptly. Course enrolment and registration cancelled and offer of admission withdrawn shortly after September 30.

Recommended deadline date for tuition fee payment. This deadline ensures that payment is received by the registration deadline of September 16 and avoids cancellation of registration/course enrolment

Deadline date for submission of Individual Reading and Research course approval forms for Fall term and 2022-23 full-year courses, to be submitted to the Registrar's Office and Student Experience, Registration Team

Instructor deadline for eMarks Grade submission for Summer session and extended courses. Deadline date for SDF designation for 2021 Winter session courses to be changed to a regular grade or a failing grade. Instructor to set due date for assignments in order to meet this date. Department approval of Grades is two business days after instructor submission deadline. Grade are visible on ACORN September 14th.

In addition, for those students graduating at November graduation:

• due date for: Departmental MRP completion forms for those in a MRP program
• Fully signed Departmental Degree Recommendation forms for Masters students completing thesis (student thesis upload deadline is Sept 19)
• notification for addition of Completed Emphasis/Fields to appropriate student records and receipt of notification of Completed Collaborative Specializations.

Labour Day (University closed)

Deadline for adding 2022 Fall term and 2022-23 full-year courses via ACORN. After this date (Sept 7 to Sept 20), receipt of fully approved "Course Add" form is required.

Orientation Week events

Classes begin for 2022 Fall Term and 2022-23 full-year courses.

Final date to submit final doctoral theses to SGS to avoid fee charges for 2022-23 academic session.

Students expecting to complete degree requirements in the Fall 2022 term may submit the Application to Graduate form for Spring 2023 convocation; (in either March (in absentia/no ceremony) or June).

Registration deadline date for students registering in the Fall term (September to December). After this date, a late registration fee will be assessed. Minimum required payment due = (unpaid fees from previous session[s] + 100% of current Fall tuition fee charges). The 2022-23 Fall-Winter refund date and service charge schedule is published at: https://studentaccount.utoronto.ca/

Certain portions of some graduate student society fees may be refunded by the student society (listed on the ACORN invoice), within limited time periods at the beginning of each session (at the discretion of the graduate student society). Procedures and timelines for requesting refunds is available at: https://studentaccount.utoronto.ca/

Masters Thesis must be uploaded, and proof of thesis upload email from the ProQuest ETD Administrator must be forwarded to the Registration Team. NOTE: Many thesis uploads require formatting and corrections to be finalized, be sure to leave plenty of time for editing.

* final grades, collaborative forms. MRP completion forms and degree recommendations from Departments were due Sept 2.  (be sure to plan ahead for signing time).

Deadline date to add 2022 Fall session and 2022-23 full-year courses.

Payment deadline to avoid service charges on unpaid Fall term (September to December) tuition and non-tuition fees for students registered in the Fall term only (except for those who have successfully registered without payment because they are receiving a full funding package via a research stipend, a major award or scholarship, teaching assistantships, tuition waiver, and/or sponsorships).

Monthly service charges will begin accruing on October 15th.

Payment deadline to avoid service charges on unpaid Winter term (January - April) tuition and non-tuition fees for students registered in the Fall/Winter is November 30th. This is to ensure that the payment is reflected in your account by December 15th.

Masters Degree: Final date for receipt of degree recommendations and upload of any required theses for master's degrees without fees being charged for the Fall session. The deadline to be included in November graduation was September 19th.

Deadline date to submit final PhD or EdD theses for Fall (November) Convocation. Final date to submit final doctoral theses for Fall Convocation, NOTE: the final date to avoid fee charges for 2022-23 was September 15.

Final date for Special Students to submit a complete application for admission to the 2023 Winter term.

Thanksgiving Day (University closed)

Students can add a course to the enrolment cart, but cannot take any other action: Students cannot Enrol, Drop, Modify, or Join a waiting list until 2021-October-14 at 12:00 AM.

Deadline for all Master’s students (Including MT and MA) to submit the Application to Graduate form for March graduation (in absentia) or June Convocation. This is for all students whose degree requirements, comprehensives and/or research will be completed by the end of the 2022 Fall term.

Note: Students must choose a convocation date: March (in absentia) or June.

The Application to Graduate can be accessed from the Graduation / Convocation info drop-down menu on the Student Forms page, or the Graduation drop-down menu on the Finishing up & Graduation page.

Deadline date to drop Fall session courses without academic penalty. Dropping courses is not the same as withdrawing from a session.

Last day of classes for the 2022 Fall Term, except for the MT (Master of Teaching) program which continues to December 9.

Last day of classes for 2022 Fall Session Master of Teaching courses.

Deadline date for receipt of Individual Reading and Research (IRR) course approval forms for the 2023 Winter term.

Recommended tuition fee payment deadline for students registering or starting their program in the Winter session (i.e. those who were not registered in the previous Fall session) to ensure payment is received by the registration deadline of January 13, and to avoid cancellation of registration and course enrolment

University closed for Winter break

Effective the January 2023 session, Waitlists will be cancelled on January 16th which is also the new final day to add courses via ACORN

Deadline date for adding 2022 Winter session courses via ACORN, without instructor's approval. From January 17th to January 23rd receipt of fully approved course add forms is required.
