Climate Change Education Conference 2026
Harvesting Knowledge: Linking Food Justice and Climate Action
Some say the best kind of learning is edible, so how can K-12 educators harvest new knowledge about linking food justice and climate action? Food literacy connects to community, health, wellbeing and justice for living beings around the world; what we eat and how it’s grown is responsible for 30% of greenhouse gas emissions. Growing capacity for teaching about food literacy, food justice and food security in relation to Climate Education is critical, and supports the Ontario curricula alongside equity, inclusion, reconciliation and regeneration.
Join in the 2026 EcoSchools Kick-off Conference to get a taste of teaching and learning of food justice as a part of Climate Education and action. Learn from TDSB educators, staff and community partners about how to grow connections between food literacy and Climate Education in K-12 classrooms, inspired by the rich learning grounds of Evergreen Brick Works. Debbie Field, as our keynote speaker, and workshop leaders will share a range of inspiring ideas, strategies and resources to involve students in learning that is interdisciplinary, community-engaged and action-oriented. Connect with other TDSB educators dedicated to Climate Education to make curriculum connections, exchange teaching strategies and forge edible pathways for advancing climate action across all levels of education!
