Indigenous Education Network

The IEN offers a variety of opportunities and supports for Indigenous students at OISE such as:

Academic Advising

In partnership with First Nations House, students have access to an academic counselor who offers academic and financial advice, support and referrals to other services on campus. To schedule an appointment contact julie.shepard@utoronto.ca

OISE Traditional Teaching and Support Program

Traditional Teacher and Gokoomis Jacque(line) Lavalley is available during the fall and winter semesters for drop-ins and scheduled appointments. As the IEN continues to expand this program, Elders and other Knowledge Keepers will continue to be welcomed to OISE to share traditional knowledges with students, staff and faculty. More information about Jacque Lavalley and how to register for drop-in hours.

OISE Visiting Traditional Teachers

Each semester the Indigenous Education Network invites traditional teachers to visit OISE. Visiting traditional teachers deliver public lectures, are available for drop-in hours and spend time with OISE students, staff and faculty. For more information on upcoming visiting traditional teachers visit our Events page.

Indigenous Graduate Student Collective

The Anishinaabe-Onkwehonwe Graduate Student Collective is a group of Indigenous students at OISE.  In partnership with the IEN and Supporting Aboriginal Graduate Enhancement (SAGE), they organize events for Indigenous graduate students, and provide informal support to one another as they navigate the academy. For more information, email ien@utoronto.ca

Student Work Space and Lounge

The IEN offers space for Indigenous students to work, relax and build relationships.
