Visiting the Lab School

For Professional Educators

The Dr. Eric Jackman Institute of Child Study Laboratory School serves as a setting for observing theoretical and research-based ideas in practice. We welcome visits to the Laboratory School by educators and researchers from schools around the world. In the past, we have hosted visitors from the Ministry of Education and other ministries, public school boards, teachers, and teacher-educators. Presentations, tours, and in-class observation can be arranged.

We are currently welcoming visitors for the 2022-2023 School Year.

Arranging a Visit:

  1. Please complete a Tour Request Form.
  2. If you have any additional questions, please contact The Lab School office: oise.jicslabschool@utoronto.ca, JICS Receptionist, Paige Lancaster: paige.lancaster@utoronto.ca, or our Vice Principal, Chriss Bogert: chriss.bogert@utoronto.ca

Policies for Visitors

  • All visits must be pre-arranged with the Lab School by submitting the Tour Request Form.
  • Visitors to ICS must identify themselves to reception upon arrival.
  • Photography of the school environment is permitted.
  • No photography of children or posted images of children is permitted.

For Prospective Parents

Unfortunately, we are unable to invite all interested families to visit ICS during our school year.

Families on our waiting list do not tour the school until such time that a space is in view. As outlined in our Admission procedures, we will contact you to meet with us when there is a space available for you to consider. The focus of the school day is on children’s learning.

Parents interested in the Laboratory School are invited to view our Admissions page or contact Shama Joshi (labschooloffice@utoronto.ca) in the school office regarding admissions.
