Qualifying Research Paper Guidelines

Students applying to the doctoral degree in Adult Education and Community Development must hold an appropriate master's degree from a recognized university in a relevant discipline or professional program, with a minimum standing equivalent to a University of Toronto B+.

Applicants also expected to have completed a master's thesis. If not, an undergraduate thesis may also be acceptable.

If the applicant did not complete an undergraduate or master's thesis, they are required to submit a Qualifying Research Paper (QRP) to the Department of Leadership, Higher and Adult Education.

A QRP is an original, sole-authored, and rigorous piece of research that is considered equivalent to a master's thesis, with a length between 50 and 90 double-spaced pages, and methodology and theoretical perspective spelt out as appropriate.

For general QRP information, please see OISE's Guidelines for the QRP.
