Teaching Overview

Dr. Janzen has taught in higher education in Ontario for more than 40 years. She was Professor, Coordinator and Chair of the Nursing Program at Seneca College for 18 years; Director of Professional Development for 10 years and Associate Vice President Research & Innovation for 8 years, also at Seneca. Between 1990 and 2007 she was a part-time Adjunct Professor at Brock University,an Associate with Central Michigan University and the University of Toronto/OISE teaching in undergraduate and graduate programs. Her main areas of interest and expertise are: Curriculum Theory, Design and Development, Teaching/Learning strategies, Organization Development, Education Research, and Leadership and Change in education. She has supervised more than 35 students who have successfully completed their master's research projects and theses; she continues to be the Thesis Supervisor for numerous PhD students and she serves on doctoral theses committees. Katharine has co-facilitated several year-long leadership academies for health professionals and college faculty, administrators and support staff.

Representative Publications

Fall 1993 - Fall 2015  -  Founding and Senior Editor of The College Quarterly - an academic journal that focuses on research and scholarly discussion of issues relevant to Canadian colleges. The journal includes both peer reviewed and editorial board reviewed scholarly papers. Initially published in print the journal is now published entirely on-line. http://collegequarterly.ca
