Michele Peterson Badali
Associate Dean, Research, International and Innovation


Dr. Michele Peterson-Badali is a registered psychologist in Ontario and professor in the Department of Applied Psychology and Human Development. She is a leading international scholar who is widely respected for her research on children’s and adolescents’ knowledge, reasoning, perceptions, and experiences of the youth justice system, their understanding of rights, and their evolving legal capacities.

With an outstanding record of research and publication, her work has been supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, the federal Department of Justice, the Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General, and the Office of the Ontario Provincial Advocate for Children and Youth.

Professor Peterson-Badali has a strong record of academic leadership and service. She has served as Coordinator of the School and Clinical Child Psychology Program in 2009-2010, Associate Chair of the Department of Human Development and Applied Psychology from 2004 to 2008, and member of numerous OISE committees. She has also served the University of Toronto on the Graduate Academic Appeals Board in the School of Graduate Studies since 2008, and the Academic Board since 2013.
