Office of the Dean


Dr. Glen A. Jones, Dean of the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, is recognized as the foremost scholar of Canadian higher education, and one of the world’s leading authorities on higher education policy, governance, and administration. 

Dr. Jones has been part of the OISE community for almost 30 years – first as a master’s and doctoral student. He was then hired at Brock University as an assistant professor in 1992 and returned to OISE as an associate professor in 1995. At OISE, he served as Chair of the Department of Theory and Policy Studies in Education (1998-2001), Associate Dean (2003-2011) and Acting Dean (2009).

He is a past president of the Canadian Society for the Study of Higher Education and a former editor of the Canadian Journal of Higher Education. Dr. Jones has received the Distinguished Research Award from the Canadian Society for the Study of Higher Education and has held numerous visiting professorships around the globe. He has written or co-authored 10 books and over a hundred articles on Canadian higher education, and served as the first Ontario Research Chair in Post-Secondary Policy and Measurement (2008 to 2017).
