On September 20, new- and pre-tenure OISE faculty gathered over lunch to share institutional knowledge, resources, and research interests.

“This luncheon was a great way to kick off the term and discover commonalities with colleagues across all four departments,” said Professor Cassie Brownell, who joined OISE in September.

During the event, new faculty members were introduced to research support resources available at OISE and participated in a pre-tenure mentoring group begun last year by Professor Indigo Esmond and led this year by Professor Kathy Broad. Featured presentations provided information on library services and on opportunities to work with organizations around the globe in collaboration with OISE’s Continuing and Professional Learning (CPL).

In addressing the nature of mentoring at OISE, Dr. Broad emphasized the reciprocal nature of knowledge exchange in service of community-building. In that spirit, new faculty members raised their most pressing questions, and returning faculty members shared insights from the early stage of their careers. Both new and returning faculty are looking forward to continuing this conversation throughout this academic year.
