Join us for weekly drop-in sessions to help you reconnect with your body, mind, and emotions. Learn techniques, including mindfulness and yoga, for increasing our capacity to be reflective, strengthen our resilience, and improve our relationships with others.

These mindful moments sessions are open to all staff, students, and faculty. It is 45 minutes with 5-10 minutes at the beginning and end of the session for informal sharing and questions, allowing students some flexibility in arriving and departing. The session includes a short introduction, 20-30 minutes of practice (breath meditation, body scan, mindful walking or movement, compassion and loving kindness, and gratitude practices), sharing, Q&A, and discussion about stress management, benefits of mindfulness meditation, and latest research findings about mindfulness in mental health, including physiology and neuroscience.

Flow and Let Go

EVERYONE WELCOME
 
Offered every Monday, 12:10 - 12:50 pm from June 7 - August 30 (No session on July 12, August 2 and August 16)

Participants can come for the whole 40 minutes, or choose to join in for just part of the session. 
 
For the first 20 minutes, participants can Flow in a yoga practice, for all levels. (*Comfortable clothes, yoga mat, and water bottle are necessary. Blocks, strap, small towel, and essential oils are optional.)
 
The second 20 minutes, participants can Let Go in more gentle practices of iRest@ Yoga Nidra, guided meditation, and / or chair yoga. (*Comfortable clothes and a stable chair are necessary. Cushions / bolsters, blanket, eye pillow, and essential oils are optional.)
 
 

 

ORSS SPONSORED MINDFULNESS PRACTICES

Mindfulness for Compassion | Shalyn Isaacs

Tuesdays | 12:00-12:30pm

This meditation series is focused on using mindfulness to cultivate a sense of compassion for ourselves and others. We will be using this mindfulness practice to explore what compassion looks and feels like in our bodies, and ways we can feel and practice compassion for ourselves, our communities, nature, and all sentient beings in order to take small but important steps towards creating a more compassionate world. Different meditation practices will be used in this series, including: body scans, Loving-Kindness (Metta) meditation, along with short discussions.

Evening Acceptance and Gratitude Meditation | Ava Ghods

Wednesdays | 7:00-7:30pm

This series of mediation focuses on cultivating acceptance and gratitude for ourselves and our communities. Participants will have the opportunity to practice being in the moment, self-affirmations, mindfulness breathing, reflections, and connect with each other through short discussion. The practice will facilitate a wind-down routine from the events of the day as a method of fostering relaxation for the evening.

Midday Relaxation and Focus Meditation Ava Ghods

Thursdays | 12:10-12:40pm

This set of mindfulness meditations will focus on cultivating moments of relaxation to allow for mental focus and clarity for the remainder of the day/week. Participants will be guided through mindfulness techniques of deep breathing, visualization, and body-scans. These sessions are to help participants disengage from distractions and strengthen their ability to focus on what is important to them such as, specific relationships, work, school, or other priorities.

Earth-Based Meditation & Guided Visualization | Shalyn Isaacs

Thursdays | 4:00-4:30pm

This meditation series brings us closer to knowing ourselves through deepening our connection with nature. Earth-based guided visualizations, discussions and grounding practices will be used to help participants experience a sense of inner-peace, calm, and connection with the Earth. Guided visualizations may include drawing on particular destinations in nature to facilitate feelings of belonging, connectedness, awareness and emotional release.
