Biography
Abeer Mirza is a fourth-year PhD candidate in Social Justice Education at OISE, University of Toronto. Her research examines how Anti-Muslim racism and Islamophobia operate as barriers to accessing justice for Muslim children and youth within Ontario’s youth justice system under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA). She employs qualitative research methodologies, including semi-structured interviews and interpretive thematic analysis, to explore lived experiences and legal consciousness across impacted individuals and legal professionals.
